This paper examines such counter-territorialization strategies among ethnic minorities of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic. With a single-party regime that is often qualified as“authoritarian” (e.g.Jönsson, 2002; Stuart-Fox, 2005), Laos is also one the most ethnically diverse countries of Southeast Asia
