Research on the customary law of ethnic minorities and fores policy in Vietnam (Final Draft)

“Research on the customary law of ethnic minorities and forest policy in Vietnam” is an empirical study and policy review that contributes to the implementation of the “Action of Dialogue Group” to call for action to promote the allocation of forestland and forest resources to communities, especially ethnic minorities, for their own management and use according to their customary laws and within the legal framework of Vietnam. This report is the research result from documentation of the inheritance and use of customary law as a basis for the management and use of forestland and forests in Vietnam. On the basis of theoretical and empirical research, the report provides recommendations to strengthen the legal framework for allocation of land and forest resources to ethnic minority communities for they can manage and use land effectively, promote self-management role of community in sustainable resource development.
