Opposition to proposed Stung Cheay Areng Dam

The site for proposed 260-MW Stung Cheay Areng Dam is located in Central Cardamom Protected Forest. China-based Sinohydro Resources is contracted by the Cambodian government for the construction of the dam. According to a researcher of the Princeton University-based international affair, If the dam is established, adverse effect is expected to flood local villages, affects indigenous people by inundate their lands and affects the natural habitat of endangered wildlife of the Siamese crocodile.
