No success like failure: Policy versus reality in the Lao forestry sector

Benjamin Hodgdon chronicles the experience of an NGO-supported project recently discontinued by the Lao government to highlight the ongoing serious problems plaguing Laos’ production forestry sector. This article is concerned with the newest incarnation of community forestry in Laos, called “participatory sustainable forest management,” or PSFM.
