Cambodia MDG Acceleration Framework (MAF): Promoting Women's Economic Empowerment

Gender equality and empowerment of women are key national development objectives in Cambodia as reflected in the Government’s Rectangular Strategy (RS) and the National Strategic Development Plan (NSDP). Additionally, the Neary Rattanak (NR) is a five-year strategic plan developed since 1999 by the Ministry of Women’s Affairs (MoWA) as Cambodia’s strategic framework and plan for gender equality. NRIII 2009-2013 focuses on five pillars: i) economic empowerment of women; ii) education of women and girls, attitudes and behaviour change; iii) legal protection of women and girls; iv) health and nutrition of women and girls and HIV and AIDS prevention; and v) women in public decision-making and politics
