Laos: a state coordinated frontier economy April 2011

the economic activities in Northern Laos are a form of unregulated frontier capitalism. The available evidence presented in this paper provides a differe nt picture. In fact the Lao government has enabled frontier capitalism through deliberate facilitation and intervention in markets, notably the financial market as well as mediation of inter-company relation.
