In the past two years in Laos, the ruling Lao People’s Revolutionary Party (LPRP) has continued to pursue rapid economic growth while strengthening its power over the political sphere. The regime has benefited from one of the highest levels of GDP growth in Asia, which has come about as a result of market reforms implemented since the 1980s.
