This GIS data is the vector representation of protected areas including national protected areas, national protection forests, and national production forests in Laos. The boundaries of protected areas are inferred as it is digitized from a map at scale of 1:1,000,000 which is published on the website of Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS).

ជំហាននៃដំណើរ The digital map was downloaded from the official website of WCS and georeferenced in QGIS Application. After the georectification steps, a shapefile was created and digitized following the map. The Laos administrative boundary from Data HDX was used as an auxiliary data for tracing during the digitizing process. The information from the map legend and World Database on Protected Areas were used for filling the attribute table.
