The current study on wood demand and supply, and forest industries in the Union of Myanmar is a part of the Poverty Reduction and Environmental Management in Remote Greater Mekong Sub-region Watersheds project and its Timber Trade and Wood Flow-study. This study is one of six country studies – one for each project country – that are produced during the project. A separate regional report studies the cross-border issues and opportunities in the whole of the subregion. This report – like all the national reports – deals with three interrelated topics: i. general pattern of wood use and demand/supply in the country ii. timber trade to/from the country iii. forest industries and the role of forest industries in national industrial strategies.
