Cases of local transboundary environmental management in border areas of the Mekong watershed in Yunnan, China

This paper documents cases of transboundary environmental cooperation and issues in local institutional contexts in Yunnan, China. Cases include formal agreements on specific issues, such as fire control; local government participation in join projects, such as poppy substitution; local-level exchange, such as between farmers, and private sector and trade issues. The author then discusses the needs for transboundary environmental management on other issues.
