Description

The report analyzes the data and views of Cambodian women’s participation in politics, especially the process of the 5th legislature National Assembly (NA) Elections 2013. This report looks in particular at the women’s political empowerment and elections, problems and challenges facing women both as voters and candidates and women’s opinions on electoral progress. COMFREL deployed 60 female long-short term observers in five provinces in order to monitor and observe women’s participation in politics and the national election. In the 2013 national election, 25 female candidates were elected to be parliamentarians, equivalent to 20.33% of the total 123 members of the 5th-legislature National Assembly.
