Greater Mekong Subregion hydropower dams (2016)

This dataset contains all known hydropower developments across the Greater Mekong Subregion although is not a complete dataset. It includes original data collected by Open Development Cambodia and Open Development Vietnam as well as sources from International Rivers and the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (CGIAR) Challenge Program on Water and Food - Mekong.

Positional Accuracy Accuracy of the data points are subject to the method of collection and geo-referenced. Some discrepancies are evident in the dataset and thus points should be considered an estimation unless otherwise determined.
Logical Consistency There are known issues with logical consistency.
Completeness This dataset is not complete and will be updated periodically.
Process Step Data was collected from a variety of resource documents, government and non-government institutions and originally georeferenced using google earth viewer. All points where then uploaded and visualised with as much detail information as available, provided in the attribute table.
Lineage Sources vary data from Myanmar, Laos, Thailand and China come fromthe CIGAR-WLE dataset available: https://wle-mekong.cgiar.org/maps/. Other data was orignally georeferenced by PanNature for Vietnam and Open Development Cambodia using Google Earth Viewer.
