Hectare forest cover by province in Cambodia (1973 - 2014)

The dataset describes hectare forest cover by province in Cambodia in 1973, 1989, 2000, 2004, 2009, 2013 and 2014. This dataset was derived from ODC forest cover in Cambodia (1973-2014). Provincial boundaries are based on the Cambodian Economic Census (2011) administrative boundary data. Data is available for download in xlsx and csv.

Positional Accuracy There is no known issue from the process of deriving the forest cover statistics. However, the accuracy depends on the accuracy of the raw data: Forest Cover in Cambodia (1973 - 2014) and the Cambodian Economic Census (2011). (See the Limitations section on ODC Forest Cover page for more information: http://www.opendevelopmentcambodia.net/briefings/forest-cover/)
Logical Consistency The sum of forest and non-forest areas (forest cover types) is marginally different to the actual size of (land cover in) Cambodia in square kilometers due to the different data types used in processing: forest cover data in raster format and the administrative boundary data in vector format.\r\n\r\n*Tbong Khmum, previously a district, was split from Kampong Cham province and formed as a new province by a Royal Decree signed on 31 December 2013. For the purpose of showing trending, the 2014 forest cover in Kampong Cham province includes that of Tboung Khmum province. To date, there is no official administrative boundary map demarcating Tboung Khmum as a province.
Completeness There is no known issue with completeness.
Process Step Data (pixel) was derived from ODC forest cover in Cambodia (1973 - 2014) data (GeoTIFF) and the Cambodian Economic Census (2011) administrative boundary data using a zonal statistics tool in ArcGIS. Using this process, pixel value of each forest cover type for Cambodia was converted to square meters. Using this process, the pixel value of each forest cover type for Cambodia was converted to square meters and then attributed to each province. Forest cover value in square meter for each classification type was then divided by 10,000 (100m x 100m) to get the forest cover values by province in hectares.
